Bob Johnson

Bob Johnson is Head of Originations at Newrez. Sitting at the intersection of sales, operations, credit, compliance, capital markets, and technology, he oversees all aspects of mortgage origination and production for the company and brings more than 30 years of industry experience.

Mr. Johnson was appointed Head of Originations in 2024, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Newrez’s Originations business and Executive Vice President of Capital Markets. Since joining the executive leadership team in 2012, his expertise in product strategy and capital markets has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth.

Prior to joining Newrez, Mr. Johnson co‑founded First Light Capital, LLC, where he served for four years as Managing Partner of a real estate fund. He also held senior roles at American Home Mortgage, including Executive Vice President of Capital Markets and Vice President of Hedging, Trading, and Sales. He began his mortgage career at ComNet Mortgage Services, where he held a variety of roles and ultimately served as Vice President of Secondary Marketing.

Mr. Johnson holds a B.A. in Economics and Communications from the University of Richmond.
